More About Rapidocs Technology
Strategy Approaches for Law Firms
We are interested in helping lawyers, particularly solo and small law firms,
automate their law practice in order to increase their productivity. We believe
that automation, especially the offering of legal services over the Internet,
can help attorneys serve a broader range of clients; particularly moderate
income clients who cannot afford high legal fees. We are committed to the concept of making legal
services affordable and accessible through concepts and techniques like
"unbundling", "fixed fee billing", "document automation and management",
"client extranets", "web-based advisory systems", "digital legal applications",
"expert systems", "content
or knowledge systems" and other tools and management
techniques that streamline law practice.
Unlike other document automation systems,
Rapidocs® was built
from the ground up as a tool to be used by consumers directly, as distinguished
from a document automation tool for lawyers. As a result, Rapidocs® is very easy
to use and deploy, and is cross-platform. Rapidocs® templates can be used as a Windows
application, or delivered on the Web using our ActiveX or Java technology.
Rapidocs® has been selected by Sweet and Maxwell, Ltd., International,
Thompson's UK subsidiary, as the automation platform for the "White Book." The
"White Book" is the major legal forms software publication licensed to
solicitors in the United Kingdom for use in their law practice. [Click

document assembly system into a fully featured application that can be used
within a law firm or corporate legal department.

In launching our DirectLaw Web Service, we decided that law firms could also benefit from a low-cost
document automation solution that would not require a high capital investment in R&D
or
complicated programming on the part of the law firm. Programming a
document automation system is not the best use of an attorney's
time. Thus, the service offered by
this web site is available for law firm use on the same low-cost basis that we
use to provide our forms to the public, even though we know that law firms can
mark-up the cost of our document products to a much higher price point,
largely because attorneys provide a value-added service.
The web-based legal forms service can augment the forms
you already have in your law firm library. You can also use this site to
generate those forms that are high volume forms in your practice, without
investing in software or expensive custom programming. With the DirectLaw Web Service, your clients
can complete online questionnaires, resulting in instant
form creation, ready for your review. Using our DirectLaw Web Service is like having access to a paralegal without
the cost.
If you have a state-specific version of a legal form that is better than we
offer, we are also interested in licensing legal form content from you,
depending on demand for the document. Our license fee is 3% of document sales,
based on either our retail price or wholesale price, depending on which web site
it is sold from. For information about our licensing program, contact us . At the
present time we are interested in licensing state-specific forms for Child
Support Petitions, Child Support Modification and Step-Parent
Adoption.
Also, if you want us to automate one of the forms that you use
regularly in your practice, we will consider automating the forms for you at low
cost if we can market your form through one of our retail distribution channels.
The cost of licensing the form content from your firm will offset the cost of
any custom automation that apply to your particular form.
We will create either an entire web site or create a back-end for your existing web site. We are
interested in helping law firms offer automated legal documents to clients that
are bundled with legal advice for a fixed price.
Document assembly can be a very powerful toll for increasing law firm
productivity. Whether used on the work station within the office or over the Web
to enable clients to assemble their documents, automation can
expedite the document drafting process. Time is money. The advantage of using our
document assembly program is that the
Rapidocs® software, through an intuitive question and answer process,
collects all the necessary information for your document. An answer only needs
to be given once to enter it into the document however many times it is needed.
Rapidocs® document assembly software is
used to automate documents and forms in this web site. Assembly of a legal document is
easy. You simply input the data that your customer provides to you either
directly into the computer, or you have the option of giving your customer a
paper questionnaire, which they can complete on their own time and return to you.
Upon receipt of the completed client questionnaire, you simply input the client's data into the
computer and the legal document is created. You
can further customize the document, by editing the document within Rapidocs®
using the built-in word processor. You can also export the assembled document to
MS Word for further editing. You can archive your assembled documents within your
personal WorkSpace and it will be
linked to the client for whom it was generated.
