Using HotDocs® within  DirectLaw's Virtual Law Firm Platform

After July 31, 2010, DirectLaw users will have access to HotDocs®-developed forms and documents hosted by Legal Systematics, Inc. through the DirectLaw platform!

This functionality will be added in response to many requests from law firms that have already invested in the development of HotDocs® templates that work on the desktop, but are not web-enabled.

Serving HotDocs® interviews in connection with the DirectLaw platform enables clients to generate a document from HotDocs® within a web browser (online).  The assembled document is then ready for further review, analysis, and revision by the attorney via the DirectLaw Attorney Dashboard.  Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox web browsers will be supported.

How It Works:

• Document purchase is made through the firm's web site via the DirectLaw platform, and the firm is notified via e-mail. Documents for which there is a HotDocs® template will appear in the law firm's list of available documents for sale, bundled with legal advice, just like a Rapidocs template.
• A record appears on the firm's Attorney Dashboard.
• HotDocs® interviews and templates are presented or assembled by HotDocs® Server hosted by Legal Systematics, Inc.
• Client's assembled form in Adobe .PDF or MS Word is available through the Attorney Dashboard, ready for attorney review, analysis, further revision and amendment if necessary.
• Firm uploads completed document(s); the client is notified and downloads his/her completed document(s) from the client space, ready for execution or filing.

NOTE:   DirectLaw's Document Usage Fees are not assessed on the sale of any non-Rapidocs documents.  However, a HotDocs® transaction fee is charged on the sale of HotDocs™-automated documents and is credited against a monthly minimum fee of $99.00.  Users of this service will enter into a customer relationship with our HotDocs® provider, Legal Systematics, Inc.  (See below for further details).

Pricing/Costs:

This new feature is designed for law firms with a large collection of documents automated in HotDocs®.  It is not productive to implement this feature for just one or two documents, unless these documents are high-volume documents.

The costs associated with implementing this feature are:

• $250 for initial setup of HotDocs®.
• $99/month minimum hosting fee against which a per document assembly charge applies.  This hosting fee is in addition to DirectLaw's monthly subscription fee.  The minimum level of service required to implement the HotDocs® option, which includes DirectLaw's integrated credit card processing system, is Level I. Level I does not include any Rapidocs automated document libraries. Utilizing the HotDocs® option with our Level I service will cost a minimum of $198.00/month.

The following amounts per template invocation are charged and apply against the minimum amount of $99/month (for interview or assembly):

• $10 for the first ten (10) invocations in a month;
• $8 for invocations greater than ten (10) and less than one hundred (100) in a month;
• $6 for invocations over one hundred (100) in a month.
